TOW#548 — The best of you
Success for most people is something that can be characterised in any way they like. So for some success means high performance, or a nice salary and a stable income, while for others it’s constantly doing good for other people or simply by doing good they have inner peace. However, as we get older, the definition of success changes and adapts to new needs. That is, this category of people somehow always tend to get the best out of situations and always strive for something new and better than before.
But, unfortunately, there’s a large group of people who tend to get ‘stuck’ in the confusion of defining success and being satisfied with small and selfish needs, rather than collective needs, with which they change the concept of success. They simply don’t get the best out of themselves, but on the contrary, the worst.
For this reason, a few tips on how to get the best out of yourself or others:
- Believe in yourself and your colleagues from day one — you know, we’ve all been to an interview from which we had some expectations and promised something. They, on the other hand, accepted us at work or entrusted us with something because of the promises we made. If we don’t believe in ourselves — that we’ll do what we promised — then how can we expect them to believe in us in the future. Belief in oneself is related to belief in others, that they can help you achieve your goals;
- Constant education — if you want to get the best out of yourself and others around you, you need to constantly invest in education. Educate yourself, and I don’t mean just informal or formal schooling, but also socialise with people you know you can learn something from, read articles related to your work or hobby while travelling or going to the toilet, go to educational seminars… just don’t expect to be paid for it;
- Investing in sustainable development — investing in your development is about taking responsibility, being proactive and more involved in the completion of tasks. Only in that way can you learn more and more every day, and improve in order to give your best! If, on the other hand, you’re locked in your circle, then that’s where you’ll stay for the rest of your life. Get out of your comfort zone!;
- Communication — your communication should be simple and clean. To do this, you must be honest with yourself and ask yourself whether you’re a good communicator(?) and whether people understand you or not(?). You can’t give your best if you don’t know how to communicate. If you don’t know how to communicate, you won’t be understood, and if others don’t understand you then what kind of results will you achieve!?;
- Celebrate — everything that’s beautifully and properly implemented should be celebrated. When it comes to things you did wrong, learn something from them and be better next time.
Guys, I urge you, get the best out of yourselves, not the worst! Only then will you, as well as everyone around you, be able to move forward!
Wishing you success with the changes to come,
