TOW#600 — Energy
Reading this text now, you’re wasting energy! Blinking, you’re wasting energy! With every breath, you’re wasting energy! Making coffee, you’re wasting energy!
Research shows that when our brain is at rest, it still consumes 20% of all our body’s energy. Imagine how much it’s using when you’re tense, upset, shaken, angry, excited or going through a difficult time emotionally. On top of this, what about the reports, all the emails to be sent, the meetings during the day, organising the team, as well as implementing tasks and activities at work. Then there’s the husband / wife, home, lunch, children waiting for you to play with them, sorting stuff around the house, having a drink with friends, going to the cinema, reading a book, and so on, and so on…
Whatever we do, we use energy! Our body is like a rechargeable battery. But you know what they say about computers and phones and all other battery-powered devices — the better you treat the device, and charge and use it properly, the longer your battery will last. Therefore, after a certain period of use, our devices break down and we change them. But the difference between our body (bio-device) and an electronic device is that we can’t just replace part of it or simply get a new one. That’s why it’s so important to take care of our body and to be careful about how we spend our energy.
There’s two things you need to consider in order to increase the longevity of your ‘life’ energy (battery) — input and output. In other words, to control the input or power generation, and the output, or energy consumption. Chinese philosophy says — “just create energy; do not worry about anything else.”
How much energy do you create during the day and how much of it do you save?!
In order to protect, save or create new energy:
- It’s okay to cancel a meeting!
- It’s okay to take a walk in nature!
- It’s okay to eat your lunch in peace!
- It’s okay to leave that thing until tomorrow!
- It’s okay to change your mind!
- It’s okay to say NO or say YES!
- It’s okay to want to be alone!
- It’s okay to not answer the phone!
- It’s okay to take a day off!
- It’s okay to put on a ‘stupid’ movie and have a laugh!
- It’s okay to get out of the office and collect some solar energy!
- It’s okay to turn down someone for coffee who drains your energy!
- It’s okay to build a ‘wall’ around yourself and be careful who you give energy to!
- It’s okay to forgive someone you’ve been angry with for a long time!
- It’s okay to finish your showers with cold water sometimes!
- It’s okay to ‘move’ your butt and start doing some exercise!
- It’s okay to get some sleep during the day!
- It’s okay to sleep a little longer in the morning!
- It’s okay to drink more water!
- It’s okay to cut back on cigarettes or alcohol!
- It’s okay to close your eyes and take a few minutes to breathe!
- It’s okay to do nothing at all!
Learn how to create and save energy. The battery will not last forever!
